Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) collagen stimulator that works within the deep dermis of the skin to help revitalize collagen production and restore the skin’s inner structure and volume. As a collagen stimulator, Sculptra fillers are used to correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds by restoring the deep, underlying structure of the skin. The revitalization of collagen production happens gradually, helping to restore facial volume and create a more firm and youthful appearance.
Kit consists of:
- Sterile water 5ml x 2
- Syringe x 4
- Needle x 5
Precautions:
- Sculptra should only be used by healthcare professionals trained in the approved indication.
- Sculptra injection in the periorbital area has not been studied. An increased risk of papules and nodules has been reported in published literature after injections in the periorbital area.
- Safety and effectiveness of Sculptra has not been evaluated in patients who are pregnant, lactating, breast feeding, or under 18 years of age.
- Other filler products should not be directly mixed with Sculptra. No studies of interactions of Sculptra mixed with drugs (other than lidocaine) or other substances or implants have been made.
Instruction for the reconstitution:
Disinfect the vial's stopper, pierce it with the extra spike, draw 5 ml of sterile water for injection into a syringe, slowly add it to the vial while letting it flow down the inner wall, shake vigorously for 1 minute until clear, then add another 3 ml of sterile water and invert for 15 seconds until homogeneous, as detailed in the IFU or flashcard.
Instruction for the injection:
To prepare for injection, disinfect the vial, optionally add 1-2 ml of 2% lidocaine just before injecting, slowly invert to mix, attach a sterile 18G needle to a sterile >1 ml Luer-Lock syringe, draw an appropriate amount of Sculptra* solution (usually 1 ml) while keeping the vial horizontal to avoid drawing in foam, replace the 18G needle with a sterile 25G or 26G needle for injection (do not use needles with an inner diameter less than 25G), dispose of the used needle, attach a new sterile 18G needle, draw more Sculptra* solution, and inject using a sterile 25G or 26G needle, repeating this until no solution remains, and check for homogeneity if the solution has been standing for a long time, in which case invert it.
